DARG TEAM
The DARG Team, Da Arabian Revolutionnary Guys, its four Mcs, one beatmaker, a photographer and a manager. Bess, Sam, Mady, 3ntr, Fadi, Maroof, Ahmad et Adham : rappers from Gaza in a difficult context. Since 2004, the members of DARG Team have had just one goal : express their day to day life through their music and their words freely. Because to express what one feels, plainly, without taboo, is a way to touch the external world, to change the image of Gaza. For them, music is a form of resistance. Their rap, very oriental strains, speaks about Palestine, the siege, the Palestinian internal struggles but also of childhood and of friendship. Their goal is resistance by words, instead through weapons.
DARG performed several times in Gaza. In June 2004, they won the HipHopKom competition, organised by the Palestinian Sabreen association and supported by Denmark. Since then, DARG Team is thus considered as the best group of Palestininan rap. But to rap in a very conservative society of Gaza is not simple. The bet of being different is an everyday headache. To organise concerts becomes more and more difficult. Nevertheless, the seven members of DARG continue. In particular, this summer, they gave a series of concerts in the schools managed by UNWRA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency). Their combat and their energy is a real lesson.
